Faits saillants de la tournée
Visit to the Barrio and the small local school with social interaction within the school and community.
Explore the world of Cigars, Chocolate, Coffee, Rum and Dominican jewellery. Shopping Opportunity.
Visit the 500-year-old city of Higuey, the local markets, religious venues, play dominoes with local residents at a carwash.
For many, a vacation in Punta Cana is all about white sand beaches and 5 star resorts. But have you ever wondered what lays beyond the resort wall?
Higuey Circle has been designed to give a better understanding of life in the region. Fact is, many of the employees who provide service to you during your vacation, live in Higuey, thus you have the opportunity to see a bit of their life outside of the resort.
We start our day on the same route as Munchies in Macao, with a visit to the barrio, the school, and cigars-rum-chocolate. It is here where we turn the other way and head to Higuey.
After a leisurely drive through the countryside, we have a little gaming to do at the carwash! I will leave it at that, but even the most reserved of us, find ourselves being caught up in the game!
Higuey is next! The region's largest city and home to the majority of employees at the beachside resorts. We take a walk (weather permitting of course) through the local markets. Nothing to buy here from a tourist point of view, but often a visual and sensory delight! One never knows what they might see!
Continuing through the city we take in the local way of life and observe some of the history of the region, a city dating back to the early 1500's, before departing back to the Bavaro-Punta Cana resorts.
Please note there is no lunch stop on this tour, although snacks are available for purchase along the way.
As we will be walking through streets and markets, closed-toe shoes or sandals are suggested.
Please note that tours run Monday through Friday and are subject to availability at the time of booking.
School is open year round but classes break for summer and other seasonal holidays and special
